TOREVENT is an independently curated calendar focused on arts, entertainment, and cultural events in Toronto. Submissions are reviewed for their fit with that focus. Submitting an event is free.
What fits the calendar
- Live music, DJ events, nightlife, comedy, film screenings, theatre, and other performances.
- Art exhibitions, book launches, author events, and literary programming.
- Karaoke, trivia, open mics, social dancing, and similar entertainment.
- Public lectures and discussions about arts, literature, music, history, architecture, science, and other related subjects.
- Markets showcasing artists and artisans, and festivals where arts or live entertainment are a central focus of the event.
- Selected standalone creative workshops and special arts experiences.
Recurring entertainment and family-friendly events are welcome when they fit this focus.
What generally falls outside the calendar's focus
- Regularly scheduled classes, courses, and lessons.
- Health, wellness, fitness, self-development, and personal-care programming.
- Professional networking, trade shows, commercial expos, and general sales or promotional events.
- Happy hours, food and drink specials, and dining promotions.
- Listings advertising a business's regular opening hours or the ongoing availability of attractions, activities, or services.
- General vendor fairs and community or family activity days without a substantial arts, entertainment, or cultural focus.
- Events outside the City of Toronto.
How borderline events are considered
We consider the event's main purpose and overall programming. Arts, entertainment, or cultural programming should be a central focus of the event, rather than a minor or incidental feature.
Context matters: an author discussing a book about health may fit as a literary event, while a wellness seminar generally would not.
What to include in your submission
- A clear event title and description.
- Accurate dates and actual public start and end times, including opening days and hours for exhibitions.
- The venue name and full address.
- Admission prices or free admission, registration requirements, and any age restrictions.
- An official event information link. If advance tickets are available, please include the ticket link too.
- A poster or image, if available, that you have permission to share.
For cancellations or corrections, email torevent416@gmail.com with the event title, date, and changes.
Editorial discretion
TOREVENT does not accept events that promote hate, discrimination, or harassment, including events featuring performers, speakers, or organizers who promote them.
TOREVENT may decline or remove listings at its editorial discretion. Submission does not guarantee inclusion. Declining an event for being outside the calendar's focus is not a judgment of its quality or value to the community.
